Our Team

Darryll Esch, Owner

Darryll boasts a broad range of martial arts experience spanning over 30 years. As a father of four children who have all been active in martial arts, he's trained in multiple styles with each of them. His love for martial arts is evident in his dynamic and powerful classes.

Darryll is a former head instructor of a Kung Fu school, and has achieved a 2nd Dan rank in Taekwondo. He now trains in both Meibukan and Shotokan Karate, with Shotokan being his primary focus.

Darryll leads the Young Tigers program, and teaches Youth & Adult classes in our Shotokan program, both at our main dojo in Winnipeg, and at our satellite clubs in Fisher River and Fisher Branch. He's a favourite with kids because of his energetic style and fun approach.

Nicole Esch, Owner

Nicole is about as active as they come. A nurse and educator by profession, she thrives in a fast-paced environment. She's always had an interest in martial arts, and has trained in Taekwondo, Kung Fu, and Karate.

Nicole has achieved 1st Dan ranks in both Taekwondo, and Meibukan Karate. She's currently exploring Shotokan Karate. What's next? We wouldn't be surprised to see her rolling with the BJJ folks soon!

A heavy influencer behind the scenes, if there is a fun or unusual event or challenge happening at the dojo, you can bet Nicole had a hand in it. Whether she's training with us or assisting as an instructor, she makes everything more "fun" for kids and adults alike.

Jackie Lee

Jackie got hooked on Karate after enrolling her two sons in our school. Karate became her passion and it shows! She's the first black belt produced entirely within the current Dojo ownership's timespan. With an eye for detail and a deep interest in technical minutiae, Jackie teaches Youth & Adult students of all levels.

Richard Rochon

Richard has a talent for kicks, a carry over from his former training in Taekwondo as a young man. As a father, he returned to martial arts to train with his son. He is a positive and motivating influence, setting a high example to follow. Filling out our teaching roster, Richard recognizes the value in teaching as a way to deepen his own understanding in his Karate practice.
